Policies & Safety
  • Safety at the Safari

    • Safety—of both people and animals—is a shared responsibility.

    • Wild Animals are incredibly powerful and unpredictable. Be observant, cautious, listen to staff, obey all instructions and signage. For everyone's safety, be calm and respectful around the animals at all times.

    • Failure to abide by any of the policies or rules may result in immediate removal from the
      park grounds without a refund!

    Safety: A Shared Responsibility

    • Please follow all Safari warnings, instructions, signage, and staff directions at all times.

    • These rules are in place for your safety and for the welfare of our animals.

    • If you have questions, ask a Safari employee.

    • If you notice a potential safety hazard, please report it to staff. We appreciate your help.

    Personal Security

    • While Safari staff strive to maintain a safe environment, we cannot control the behavior of other guests.

    • Please remain alert and aware of your surroundings.

    • Keep vehicles locked and valuables secured on your person or inside your vehicle.

    • If you experience or witness a crime or security incident, notify Safari staff immediately.

    Our Safari Environment

    • The Safari is primarily a natural habitat with wild animals and outdoor attractions.

    • Guests should be comfortable with long walks or slow vehicle rides.

    • Terrain may include uneven ground, mud, gravel, sand, rocks, roots, ruts, and slippery surfaces.

    • Some hazards may be hidden beneath grass or soil.

    • Man-made features such as fences, enclosures, vehicles, and equipment are also present.

    • Always be aware of your surroundings and act with caution.

    Walkways & Public Areas

    • Always stay on the official walkways! Do not cross over barriers, enter through Staff Only doors, or cross into off-exhibit areas under any circumstance.

    • Do not climb on, sit on, or lean over fences.

    Wild Animals & Natural Dangers

    • Our animals are wild, powerful, and unpredictable.

    • Guests must never taunt, tease, harass, hit, poke, spit at, throw objects at, blow smoke at, or otherwise mistreat any animal.

    • Do not display or use flammable devices near animals.

    • Any mistreatment of animals will result in immediate ejection without refund and may result in a lifetime ban.

    Feeding Animals — Stay Safe

    • Feed animals only in designated areas and only with Safari-provided food.

    • Feeding non-designated animals is prohibited.

    • Use extreme caution:

    • When feeding lettuce to giraffes, hold it at the bottom with a closed fist—do not extend fingers.

    • Pellet feed should be thrown onto the ground.

    • Do not hand-feed zebras, camels, ostriches, or emus.

    • Follow all posted signage and staff instructions.

    • Return feed containers when finished.

    • Dispose of trash properly to prevent animals from ingesting harmful items.

    Fire & Smoke Hazards

    • Smoking or smoke-emitting devices of any kind are strictly prohibited throughout the Safari.

    • This includes cigarettes, e-cigarettes, vaping devices, pipes, cigars, lighters, matches, and open flames.

    • Fire or smoke may panic animals and pose extreme danger.

    • Violators will be immediately ejected without refund and may face a lifetime ban.

    • Smoking is permitted only in clearly marked designated parking-lot smoking areas, if available.

    • Avoid Creating Hazards

    • Do not leave items that could:

                     -  Create trip hazards

                     -  Attract animals

                     -  Harm or harass animals

    • Secure all personal belongings.

    • Dispose of all trash and unwanted food in the provided receptacles.

    Slip, Trip & Fall Awareness

    • Much of the park is "natural" land with rocks, divots, ruts, branches, leaves, mud, dirt roads and other natural hazards. Wear stable footwear and tread carefully.

    • Natural and man-made surfaces may be slippery or uneven.

    • Distractions—such as animals—can increase fall risk.

    • Proceed carefully at all times, especially in bathrooms and common areas.

    Restricted Areas

    • Do not enter areas marked “No Access,” “Employees Only,” “Keep Out,” or “Do Not Enter.”

    • Never enter fenced areas, maintenance zones, tool sheds, or electrical buildings.

    • Use only designated entrances and exits.

    Dress for Safety

    • Wear comfortable, stable, closed-toe footwear.

    • Loose, unstable, or ill-fitting shoes increase injury risk.

    • Avoid clothing with dangling or flowing elements that could cause trip hazards or attract animals.

    Parking Safety

    • Parking lots are active vehicle areas—use caution at all times.

    • Watch for children, elderly guests, and individuals with disabilities.

    • Secure vehicles and remove valuables.

    • Safari is not responsible for theft, damage, or loss.

    • Driving Within the Safari

    • Drive slowly and obey all signage and staff instructions.

    • Animals and pedestrians always have the right of way.

    • Safari is not responsible for vehicle damage, collisions, or losses.

    Children & Vulnerable Persons

    • Children 13 and under and individuals with cognitive impairments must be under constant adult supervision.

    • The Safari is not a care facility.

    • Safari assumes no responsibility for unattended vulnerable persons or their actions.

    Medical Considerations

    • The Safari does not have medical facilities or advanced medical equipment.

    • Guests with medical conditions should be accompanied by someone who can assist if needed.

    • In emergencies, Safari staff will contact 911.

    Zero Tolerance Policy

    • Anyone caught harassing, abusing, mistreating, or injuring an animal will be immediately removed from the park and prosecuted.

    •  Never startle, scare, harass, throw things at, slap/hit, or shout at the animals; they may react aggressively and defensively, including kicking, bucking, charging, ramming, biting, etc.

    •  Never get close to one of our Wild Animals! When threatened, they may react negatively and pose a greater risk to you!

    • Season Passes are non-transferable and may be subject to cancellation if used by anyone other than the pass holder.

    • Prices are subject to change. Purchase early to secure the best price before rates increase.

    • Receipts should be kept on your person while visiting the Safari. Safari staff may request to see your ticket purchase receipt to verify admission.

    • Dates and Hours are subject to change without notice. Safari reserves the right to adjust operating hours or dates at any time due to weather or operational needs. Guests are encouraged to call ahead to confirm hours and availability before visiting.

    • Capacity Limits: Safari may deny or delay entry if the park reaches capacity.

  • We love animals and are passionate about animal care. However, as a Wild Animal Safari, we cannot allow outside pets into the Safari.

    • Pets are not permitted anywhere on Safari property.

    • Guests may not leave pets in vehicles. If a pet is left unattended in a vehicle, Safari may contact animal control to ensure the animal’s safety.

Service Animals for Guests with Disabilities

    • We are happy to welcome guests with disabilities who require the assistance of a bona fide Service Animal, as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and other applicable laws. Due to safety concerns, certain limitations apply.

    • What Qualifies as a Service Animal

                     -  The only animals permitted are:

                                       -  Dogs

                                       -  Miniature horses

    • The animal must be individually trained to perform specific tasks that directly assist a disabled guest.

    • Wearing a “service animal” vest or tag does not qualify an animal as a Service Animal under the law.

    • Animals that do not qualify include:

                   -  Emotional support animals

                   -  Therapy animals

                   -  Comfort or security animals

                   -  Animals brought for riding or companionship purposes

    Misrepresentation of Service Animals

    • Do not attempt to bring an animal into the Safari as a Service Animal if it does not meet the legal definition.

    • State law provides penalties for misrepresenting a Service Animal.

    • Even a legitimate Service Animal may not enter the Safari unless it is actively assisting a disabled guest.

    • Any attempt to bring a non-qualifying animal into the Safari will result in ejection without refund.

    Verification of Service Animals

    • Guests with a Service Animal must check in at the Gift Shop upon arrival.

    • Safari staff may ask legally permitted questions regarding:

                     -  The animal’s training

                     -  The specific task the animal performs

    • Staff will not inquire into the guest’s disability.

Examples of legitimate Service Animal tasks include:

    • Guiding individuals who are blind

    • Assisting individuals who are deaf

    • Pulling wheelchairs

    • Alerting to seizures

    • Reminding individuals to take medication

    • Calming individuals during PTSD-related anxiety episodes

    Health, Behavior & Control Requirements

    • Service Animals must display professionally trained behavior and be fully controlled, or they may face ejection.

    • Service Animals must be leashed or harnessed at all times.

    • Guests are responsible for controlling their Service Animal at all times.

    • Animals must be housebroken and relieved only in approved areas—please ask staff for guidance.

    • A Service Animal will be required to leave if it:

                      -  Acts aggressively or uncontrollably

                      -  Chases animals or birds

                      -  Goes after food

                      -  Causes disruption or distress

    • Signs of ill health include, but are not limited to:

                      -  Nasal discharge or foaming

                      -  Hoarse coughing or vomiting

                      -  Excessive scratching

                      -  Open sores, scabs, lice, or ticks

    • If health concerns are observed, Safari staff may contact the Safari veterinarian to assess whether the animal poses a risk to guests or animals. If so, entry will be denied.

    Where Service Animals Are Allowed

    • Service Animals are permitted only under the following conditions:

                   -  Must remain leashed or harnessed

                   -  Must stay on designated walkways

    • Service Animals are not permitted:

                   -  Giraffe Feeding Yard

                   -  In Drive-Thru Safari

    Service Animal Kennel Availability

    • A free kennel area is available for Service Animals! Please visit the Welcome Center/Gift Shop for more information.

    Definition & Clearance

    • A Service Animal is a legal definition, related to specially trained dogs or mini horses, which assist a person with a specific disability. Please see guest services to obtain clearance for a purported Service Animal.

These limitations exist solely for the safety of guests, Service Animals, and Safari animals.

  • Please understand that the Safari is not responsible for any theft, loss, or damage to any personal property, including, without limitation, a person’s cell phone, wallets, purses, bags, sunglasses, luggage, or any other personal item.

  • Weather & Environmental Safety

    • Weather conditions are unpredictable and may pose health and safety risks. As an outdoor Wild Animal Safari, guests will be exposed to changing weather conditions.

    • Our Safari is often subject to bright sun and extreme heat, especially during the summer months. Hot and sunny conditions may lead to sunburn, heat exhaustion, or—in severe cases—heat stroke, which requires immediate medical attention. Guests may not recognize symptoms of heat illness until it has progressed.

    Heat Safety Recommendations
    We strongly recommend that guests:

    • Wear hats and sunscreen

    • Dress in light, protective clothing that covers most of the skin

    • Take breaks in shaded areas when possible

    • Avoid overexertion

    • Stay hydrated with water or electrolyte drinks
(Sugar- and caffeine-free beverages are recommended, as sugar and caffeine may increase dehydration.)

    Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

Thank you for your cooperation, and please ensure all trash is disposed of in the provided receptacles.

  • Safari reserves the right, at all times, to capture photographs, video, and audio recordings of guests, whether still or moving.

  • We happily welcome our disabled guests! Please speak to staff to request a needed accommodation, and we will strive to cater to your needs, while maintaining safety standards.

    Accessibility & Accommodations

    • It is our sincere goal to accommodate guests with disabilities, and we comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). At the same time, Safari must retain discretion to determine whether certain areas or activities can be accessed safely by all guests.

    • Safari personnel are happy to assist guests with accommodation requests whenever possible.

    Limitations on Access

    • Depending on the nature of a guest’s disability and the Safari’s ability to safely provide accommodations without undue hardship, some guests may not be able to access all areas of the Safari or participate in all activities in the same manner as other guests, or at all.

    • If Safari determines, in its sole discretion, that a guest cannot safely participate in a specific activity and no reasonable accommodation can be provided without undue hardship, Safari may restrict participation without refund or other compensation. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation.

    Requesting Accommodations

    • Guests requiring special accommodations are encouraged to contact the Safari at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of their visit. This allows our team time to prepare and explore reasonable accommodation options to enhance your experience.

  • Guests ASSUME ALL RISKS, including of the Safari's natural environment (weather events, slip/ trip / fall hazards, falling branches, etc.), encounters with Wild Animals (aggressive contact, bites, attacks), and the possibilities of illness or conditions related to natural conditions, animals, or communicable illnesses (including nature, water, air, animal, or human-related illnesses).

This assumption of risk includes both obvious and non-obvious risks, including but not limited to:

    • Animal encounters (including bites, kicks, contact, bumps or knockdowns, fear of attack or charging animals, animal saliva, urine, or waste, animal-related illnesses, and encounters with non-Safari wild or domesticated animals);

    • Slip, trip, or fall hazards on natural or man-made surfaces or structures;

    • Natural habitat hazards (such as insect stings, snakes, falling branches, tree roots, rocks, and uneven terrain);

    • Safari features and infrastructure (including fences, sheds, unpaved roads, stairs, and electrical systems);

    • Food- or beverage-related illnesses;

    • Waterborne and airborne illnesses;

    • Illnesses transmitted to or from humans and/or animals;

    • Hazards associated with Safari-rented vehicles or guest vehicles;

    • Hazards caused by other guests or unauthorized persons, including reckless behavior, willful misconduct, or criminal acts;

    • Sun exposure, extreme heat, weather conditions, and sudden weather events (including hail, tornadoes, microburst storms, lightning, rain, and wind).

In the event of any incident, accident, injury, illness, or death, each guest (on behalf of themselves, their heirs, beneficiaries, and any individuals in their care) hereby waives and releases, and covenants not to sue or make claims against, Wild Animal Safari.

For purposes of this section, “Safari” includes, without limitation, all owners, shareholders, officers, directors, managers, employees, agents, vendors, suppliers, contractors, consultants, insurers, brokers, attorneys, subsidiaries, and affiliated entities.

  • Our goal is to provide a happy, family-friendly environment that creates lasting memories for all guests. Our valued visitors play an important role in helping make the Safari a fun, safe, and exciting place to enjoy. We ask that all guests conduct themselves in a kind, courteous, and respectful manner, toward fellow guests, Safari staff, our animals, and Safari property.

The Safari has a zero-tolerance policy for inappropriate behavior, including but not limited to:

    • Aggressive or threatening conduct

    • Fighting, pushing, or reckless behavior

    • Throwing objects or damaging property

    • Offensive language or excessive profanity

    • Sexual activity or simulations

    • Nudity or “flashing”

Safari reserves the right to remove any individual who violates these standards of conduct, without refund.

  • In keeping with our family-friendly environment, we prohibit clothing that is too revealing, provocative, or otherwise offensive (e.g., we do not permit bikini bottoms, pants that sag to reveal underwear, see-through tops, lingerie, shorts that reveal any part of the buttocks, etc.). Shirts and shoes are required at all times (we recommend comfortable, stable footwear which provides full coverage for your feet). In addition, we do not permit the display of vulgar or offensive tattoos, such as sexually graphic designs, gang symbols, hate symbols, or graphically violence.

  • Please leave the acrobatics, climbing, jumping, running, and rolling around to our beloved animals! For guests, running and horseplay can create safety hazards—not only for those involved, but also for other visitors. In addition, loud or raucous behavior can startle or stress animals, who require a calm and peaceful environment.

For everyone’s safety and comfort, guests may not:

    • Climb on, over, or sit or straddle any fencing

    • Climb trees or other structures
